Day 30 - 3.31.08
We met with the doc this morning for an ultrasound and measurements, and unbelievably, each bean is over 2 pounds now! Baby A is POSSIBLY 2 lbs, 9 oz, and I say possibly because he is soooo low in my pelvis that it is difficult to get an accurate measurement. Baby B is 2 pounds, 3 oz; and Baby C is 2 pounds, 7 oz. I weighed in as well today, but shall refrain from posting my weight on a public blog. Let's just say it's more than what I started at, but less than my husband. So far. The doc said I am doing great, the babies are doing great, and we're ALL happy that in 4 days I'll hit the 28 week mark. To celebrate, I am going to enjoy a piece of banana cake with caramel icing that me mum brought to the hospital yesterday. Wheeeeee!!!!!
Also, just cuz - I thought I'd share my list of preferred listening materials whilst I have been in the pokey, which has an entirely different connotation when you are in the hospital and pregnant, as there are any number of objects one can be poked with. Ahem.
CDs in the Hiz-ouse:
- Justin Timberlake: Future Sex Love Sounds (and why not? It's not like I'm geting any lately - I have to get it from SOMEWHERE)
- Justin Timberlake: Justified (ditto comment above)
- Once sountrack (thanks to my homie Natty Lite for burning a copy for me)
- Christina Aguilera: Stripped (I don't care what anyone says - the girl can SANG)
- Bare Naked Lades: Rock Spectacle (Best live album EVAH - BNL - if you feel the urge to come serenade me in the hospital, I am all yours. Come to think of it, that goes double for Justin Timberlake...)
- Cary Brothers: Who You Are (totally chill mellow music - his song Ride makes me LONG for California)
- Snow Patrol: Eyes Open (lurv their stuff. need more.)
- Corrine Bailey Rae (dreamy dreamy dreamy)
- Jack Johnson: In Between Dreams (hot hippie with a crewcut)
- Teddy Geiger: Underage Thinking (looks like Maculey Culkin on the cover of the CD, but I won't hold that aginst him - he's pretty dope)
- The Kooks: Inside In/Inside Out (happy semi-punkish Brit music that makes me smile)
- Gavin DeGraw: Chariot (WHEN is he coming out with a new CD???)
- Garden State soundtrack (one of my fave CDs of all time)
- The Last Kiss soundtrack (also one of my faves - Zach Braff knows how to pick some damn good music for his movies. There is not one song between the last two CDs that I don't like.)
Day 29 - 3.30.08
If you would have told me a year ago that I would be in the hospital on bedrest with triplets at 24 weeks, I would have laughed in your face. I was going to be one of those women who wear 4-inch heels and adorable maternity wear (do they even MAKE adorable maternity wear???) like Sarah Jessica Parker, work until I deliver, and go to the gym faithfully until well into my third trimester. Uh, yeah - not so much. Someone had other plans. Instead, here I am at 27 weeks and 2 days, staring at the same four walls everyday, resplendent in various stretchy pants and tee shirts for hopefully as long as possible (the first short-term goal - 28 weeks - just 5 days away; and the second goal - 32 weeks), and trying not to go craaaaazy.
So what do I do with my days? Numerous glamorous and exciting things ranging from working from the hospital as much as possible, but that has dwindled to almost nothing; napping; surfing the net; napping; staring at the walls; watching lots of HGTV and TLC (though I try to stay away from any horrific labor and delivery shows); napping; and ordering MORE stretchy pants and tee shirts from Old Navy. Did I mention I also nap from time to time?
It has been a challenge to stay sane and positive, and I have spent plenty of time feeling sorry for myself, crying, and thinking "woe is me." Thank GOD for familiy and friends who have called, stopped by, sent cards, and e-mailed to see how I was doing. Thanks mostly to my hubby, who amazingly has spent every night but two with me here in the hospital sleeping on the crappy pull-out chair and never complaining. He has been my rock, and listened to me cry over and over, and encouraged me, and squeezed in my tiny twin bed and watched movies and TV, and played Scrabble (okay, so far we've only played once), and gone to almost every single ultrasound and asked the doctors questions and in general, has been my best friend. I don't know what I would do without him.
So I'll log out for now, chill with the Bare Naked Ladies, and wait for The Hubs to get here with tonight's feature presentation (Dan In Real Life). Until tomorrow, Chicfreak, out!
